Week 6, Day 3

WallArt

Wednesday, we had an assignment in class to go out of the classroom and write about something descriptively. I didn’t go too far, just outside the classroom and I decided to write about the art on the walls. Here is what I would communicate about these pieces in writing:

The white walls are blindingly blank. Not much hangs in the fluorescent lit hallway. Around one corner, there quietly hangs two brightly colored collage paintings. The paintings jump of the walls with tones of yellow, magenta, and violet, reminiscent of a summer sunset. The silver frames cannot contain the paintings’ vibrance. The blended colors are the only contrast in a white hallway filled with white people. Relentless traffic, never stopping, paintings never truly appreciated.

All these things were what i gathered from observing these photos and the hallway where they are situated. They are beautiful paintings made by students and are interesting to study. The message they send is a bright one. The paintings are full of cultural images, mostly Native American caricatures. They’re cool! And that’s what I wrote about them for feature story practice in my Comm writing class.
